Every design process is unique for each client and garden in order to address a specific set of desires, dreams, challenges, and limitations. Despite this customization, below are the general steps we take to meet our client goals.

Getting Acquainted
We can best get acquainted with your project when you:
Complete a Homeowner Questionnaire* helps identify your goals, tastes, dislikes, and challenges you anticipate, and your budget.
Provide a copy of your home’s survey or plat, which is often part of home purchase documentation.
Share inspirational ideas from sources such as Houzz, Pinterest, magazines, and other photos.
Accept an on-site visit so that we can look more closely at what the site currently includes, to discuss the Homeowner Questionnaire in person, initial impressions, ideas, timing, and potential challenges.
Native Plant Landscape Design
If you decide to move forward, we'll propose a set price/flat fee (starting at $300) for a custom garden design plan. Upon acceptance of that proposal, with half due upon acceptance, we will:
Conduct a site analysis including contacting Miss Utility, doing a soil test, measuring fixed points including plants to be retained on the site, noting sun and water conditions.
Create a preliminary design that includes a layout of the proposed new garden with specific plants at scale, paths, beds, and other features. This will be presented to you for discussion and potential revision.
Present a final custom design. After you’ve reviewed the preliminary design, we incorporate your specific requests and any ideas that the process brings up. The final Native Plant Landscape Design includes a list of plants (with online pictures) and both a hardcopy and online specific quantities and installation steps.
Custom Garden Design Plans start at $300
Purchase of Plants and Installation
Whether you wish to do the installation yourself or hire a contractor, we can support you either way.
Purchase of Plants: $65 per hour
Plus the cost for each plant (including shipping and tax).
On-site Installation Oversight.
We will come to the site during installation to make sure the design is properly realized, to measure out beds, to layout plants, etc., as needed. It’s common for some revisions to be made at the time of installation, and we’ll be on-site to make any necessary changes.
Billed at $65 an hour
Maintenance
We can develop a written maintenance plan tailored for your design.
We’ll make seasonal visits to give you tips and make recommendations as your garden grows and plants spread. Each season or year may present a new need and the original design can be adapted as needed.
